Fourteen rooms in a house that was never a hotel.
When we restored the bungalow we kept the proportions of the original rooms — tall ceilings, deep verandas, windows on two sides. Nothing here is a standard-issue hotel footprint.

Rooms built around the way the house already worked.
The bungalow was built in 1947 for a family of printers. Its rooms were generous because they had to be — they held beds, desks, trunks and, in the summer, half the household. We have not tried to shrink them into something more efficient.
Every room at The Meridian House has a king bed (or twins, on request), a proper writing desk, air conditioning, and windows that open onto either the courtyard garden or the street's neem trees. Bathrooms are in grey Kota stone with rain showers; the Suite has a freestanding tub as well.
Three room categories, fourteen keys in total. Nothing is identical — room 6 and room 9 are both Garden Rooms, but only one has the corner window.

Category One
Garden Room
From ₹9,500 per night, breakfast includedSix rooms on the ground floor, each opening either directly onto the courtyard or onto the covered walk that runs along the garden's eastern wall. The jackfruit tree is the reference point — if you can see it from your window, you're in a Garden Room.

Category Two
Terrace Room
From ₹13,500 per night, breakfast includedFive rooms on the first floor, each with its own walled terrace. The terraces face east and get the good light between seven and ten in the morning — which is also when breakfast is served, if you'd rather have it upstairs.

The Meridian Suite
From ₹19,000 per night, breakfast includedThe original master bedroom, kept almost as it was built — high ceilings, a deep veranda running the length of the room, and a separate sitting room that can take an extra bed for a child. The bathroom has a freestanding tub under the window.

Served from 7am until noon under the jackfruit tree, or on your terrace.

Someone is always on. Late arrivals and early departures are no trouble.

Twelve seats, open from six in the evening. Guests of the house only.

Arranged on request with the house car or a trusted driver. Charged at cost.
Same-day laundry
In by nine, back by seven. Ironing and pressing also available.

Guides, drivers, restaurant tables and gallery visits arranged by the desk.
Garden & sitting room
Open to guests all day. The sitting room has books, papers and a quiet corner.

Two spaces inside the gate, plus unrestricted street parking on the lane.
Guest Experience

Almost every guest mentions the same three things: the quiet, the breakfast, and the fact that someone remembers how they take their tea by the second morning.
- 01You arrive into the sitting room, not a lobby. Tea appears while your room is checked.
- 02Breakfast is cooked to order — no buffet, no chafing dishes. Eggs, parathas, fruit, filter coffee.
- 03The garden is genuinely quiet. Sunder Nagar's lanes are low-rise and the traffic doesn't reach us.
- 04Khan Market is a twenty-minute walk. Lodhi Gardens is thirty-five. Most guests walk everywhere.
- 05If you need something at 2am, there is a person at the desk who can help.
House Policies
Practical things, plainly stated.
Check-in & check-out
Check-in from 2pm. Check-out by 11am. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and can usually be arranged — just ask the desk the night before.
Children
Children of all ages are welcome. A cot is available at no charge for infants; extra beds can be placed in the Suite for older children at an additional charge.
Cancellation
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before arrival. Cancellations inside 72 hours are charged one night. No-shows are charged the full stay. Peak dates may carry different terms, which we will always state in writing.
Payment
We accept all major cards, UPI and bank transfer. A one-night deposit confirms the reservation; the balance is settled at check-out.
Pets
Well-behaved dogs under 15kg are welcome in Garden Rooms at a charge of ₹1,500 per stay. Please tell us in advance so we can prepare the room.
Smoking
All rooms and indoor areas are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted on the terraces and in the garden, where ashtrays are provided.
Quiet hours
The house observes quiet hours between 10pm and 7am. The garden closes at 11pm out of respect for our neighbours.
Accessibility
The ground floor, garden, dining room and sitting room are step-free. The first floor is reached by stairs only; the Terrace Rooms and Suite are not currently accessible by wheelchair.

Frequently asked.
Indira Gandhi International Airport is about 16km, or 40–70 minutes depending on traffic. We can arrange a car for ₹1,800 each way. Terminal 1 is slightly closer. If you're arriving late, tell us your flight number and we'll track it.
Yes — breakfast is included in every room rate and is served in the garden from 7am until noon. You can also have it brought to your terrace or room at no extra charge.
Two secure spaces inside the gate, allocated on a first-come basis. Street parking on the lane is unrestricted and generally easy. Let us know if you'll be arriving with a car.
Yes. We take full-house bookings for up to 28 guests, usually for weddings, family reunions and small corporate retreats. Please write to us at least three months in advance.
Very much so. Every room has a writing desk, the Wi-Fi is fibre and reliable, and the sitting room has quiet corners for calls. Connaught Place and Nehru Place are both within 20–30 minutes.
Yes, on request. A driver will meet you in the arrivals hall with a name board. Please share your flight details at least 24 hours ahead.
